The Process

Photo Shoot

If possible I will  take pictures for you for free here in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. This way I get to meet your furbaby and get to know their personality with the objective of capturing your pet in a portrait worthy pose.

If you are long distance then I suggest holding your own fun photo shoot. Choose different lighting and different activities that your pet loves. The classic head shots are great but perhaps your luvey is a snoozer, or loves playing with thier tug toy, ball or stick. A backlit photo is an option if you like my Blue Pet series, it produces a very evocative portrait. Note: take lots of treats to help with the process!

If your pet has passed on ( ☹ ), then it is most important that the pictures are clear, detailed. No red eye, eyes are detailed not black (see the definition in Henri below). Taking photos with a digital camera is the best. I can usually pull information from these. File size should be around 1 to 4MB no less. Remember I want to produce the best portrait for you and your portrait will only be as good as the photo(s) you provide me.

However, sometimes photos of our loved ones are not that great. I can provide options, like digital outline or watercolor wash. Just send me the best photos you have and I can provide you with the best options for your portrait. If you see a style that may still inspire great memories of your pet, I'd be happy to create for you if it is within my expertise.

Studio Time

Set up and begin! The client or lucky recipient can view the progress online as I upload the progress photos every few days.

Completed Portrait

Portraits do not come framed. The finished portrait will be presented based on style selected. If you are local, framing can be an extra option.

"This portrait of our Henri looks so real, I want to reach out and pet him. Cindy, youhave not only captured his likeness, but his personality shines through as well. Your talent to bring our pets to life, makes us smile with fond memories whenever we look at their portraits. Thank you, thank you."               -Ruth

Henri was quite happy with the result and even gave it a kiss.
